Welcome to Stinson Beach
The seaside town of Stinson Beach is located West of Mount Tamalpais and North of San Francisco. You can access the town via Highway One which will afford you unmatched scenic views of the Pacific Ocean along the way, or Panoramic Highway which winds through the redwoods of Muir Woods.
The community was established in 1906 following the San Francisco Earthquake. The earthquakes brought a lot of refugees, who started to build the city of Stinson Beach as we know it today. Opening the first post office in 1916, the name of the city changed from Stinson to Stinson Beach.
Today Stinson Beach is known to be a place where many people come to enjoy the beach and the ocean, or hiking the Dipsea Trail and taking in the natural beauty of Mount Tamalpais State Park.
Fun activities will be available to you in Stinson Beach, such as hiking, surfing and kayaking; the city has miles of hiking trails, and local surf shops have boards for rent. For those seeking peaceful activities, the beach is available everyday for a tanning session or simply to enjoy the ocean. At 3.5 miles long, Stinson Beach is one of the only beaches on the Northern California coast with fine white sand.
The town mainly comprises single family homes, with cafes and restaurants serving local, sustainable food, an art gallery, and shops, but you will also find luxurious mansions with ocean views nestled in the hills. Stinson Beach homes that are facing the ocean will provide you an admirable view of the Pacific Ocean, and some of the smaller bungalows help make Stinson Beach so full of charm.
Whether you plan to purchase a vacation home or weekend getaway, or if you want to call this seaside town your home full time, living in Stinson Beach will give you a quaint small town feel, with the privilege of being only few steps away from amazing sunset walks in the sand along the Pacific Ocean.
